Thanks to today’s sponsors: iClip, the multiple clipboard solution for OS X, VoodooPad, the ultimate organizer, Awaken, the iTunes compatible alarm clock, TextMate, the Apple Design Award winning Text Editor, and macZOT!, for daily deals on Mac software.
Well folks, this is it! The final three.
Supplemental, by Mickey Wember: Supplemental is an extremely simple videologging tool, allowing users to easily create video journals using their iSight cameras. With built-in videocasting and blogging support, Supplemental would be barebones and super easy to use. I’m imagining a Photo Booth type interface and one-click Youtube upload options. You can read the full idea here and check out Mickey’s first blog post here.
Development Judge Austin Sarner: “Supplemental is one of those ideas that seems really obvious but has yet to be done properly. A really slick overlay based interface would work great for this. I’m not sure how many people are into video blogging and journaling yet, but a streamlined app to do it would certainly be well received. This is an example of a neat and somewhat simple app idea that could appeal to nearly any creative person.”
Bookroom, by Dillon Krug: Bookroom aims to be the ultimate e-book reader, with a gorgeous custom user interface, annotations, iPod export (thanks to Leopard’s VoiceOver technology), and more. Read e-books as they should be, presented like, well, real books. You can read the full idea here and check out Dillon’s first blog post here.
My personal thoughts: With chatting, computer games, blogs, and more, I just can’t seem to find much time to read a good book these days. But I might reconsider with Bookroom, which has the potential to actually improve the reading experience in some ways. It’d be cool to share annotations with friends on favorite books, and even cool to just read some long text files copied from websites in a more visually pleasing format. Plus, with VoiceOver support, you have insta-audiobooks, which is pretty neat. And of course, just lots of potential for some crazy cool UI magic here.
iGTD, by Jeff Greenberg: iGTD is Jeff’s OS X implementation of Getting Things Done, a popular system of time management with a vocal cult fanbase. iGTD aims to provide a very Mac friendly interface to GTD with iCal and Addressbook integration, iPod exporting, and more. You can read the full idea here, and check out Jeff’s first blog post here.
Development Manager John Casasanta: “Mac users have been wanting a full-blown GTD solution for a while. Just look at the comments in the teaser post for OmniGroup’s “secret” project that was revealed to actually be OmniPlan. If you search the page, you’ll find no less than 50 people hoping/begging/pleading for one.
“Yes, there are GTD solutions for OS X, but none have really hit the mark yet. iGTD will have the chance to change that if it can make the final cut.”
That’s it! The first elimination week will begin in a few days. Take a look over these 24 finalists, pick your favorites, and help them improve their ideas through their forums. And look for great news soon.
And a huge thank you to everyone who entered!
