Round 3 of voting begins tomorrow, and for this week, we have a group of some of the best UI designers in the industry to give feedback on the 12 remaining finalists.
- Adam Betts: Probably best known for his iconic Adium duck, Adam Betts has made a name for himself as one of the best OS X icon designers out there. He most recently completed work for Bare Bones Software’s Yojimbo. View blog.
- Jasper Hauser: Top notch OS X icon and UI designer, most recently made waves with a beautiful icon for the uninstaller AppZaper, and is now collaborating with developer judge Austin Sarner on a new app, Disco. View his portfolio, and check out his blog.
- Bill Bart (BBX): Lead artist and creative director with The Skins Factory, where he has developed application UI’s, promotional skins, and storefronts for well-known clients like Microsoft, Disney, Warner Bros. and Motorola. “BBX” is beloved in the Mac GUI customization community for his themes for the Mac.
- Piotr Gajos: Lead designer for development manager John Casasanta’s Inventive, Piotr’s work was most recently recognized at the 2006 Apple Design Awards with a win for iClip lite. Piotr specializes in a futuristic style, and is currently hard at work on the upcoming iClip 4.
- Josh Keay: After designing for clients including Newsweek, Hasbro, Sierra Software and others, Josh began the OS X widget software company Monkey Business Labs shortly after Mac OS X Tiger was announced. Since then, he’s been busy designing widgets since. View his portfolio.
- Gedeon Maheux: Gedeon has made a career out of pushing pixels, founding the beloved IconFactory in 1996 with fellow designers Corey and Talos. Since then, the IconFactory’s work can be seen everywhere, even in the system icons for Windows XP!
- David Lanham: David joined the IconFactory in 2004, and has since been doing work for major clients including Microsoft (Xbox 360 icons), Walmart, Panic, Roxio, and others. In addition, he continues to maintain popular free releases on his personal site, and is currently readying a store for designer toys at StrangeKiss. David, of course, also designed this website.
And of course, what would a voting round be without a freebie? Well, I guess a round of voting without free software. But that wouldn’t be as fun! So Andrew Kazmierski and Mark Davis will be giving away copies of their newly released Musicast to all voters. If you miss sharing your iTunes library over the internet, you’ll find your fix here.
It all begins tomorrow. Who will stay, and who will be eliminated? Who will you support? Will Cookbook, Hijack and Desktop Wars keep their hold on the top three spots? We’ll see soon!
