I know that most people would like iStyleIt to provide fashion advice, I’ve been thinking that it might be a little tricky due to beauty being so subjective and having different rules for men’s versus women’s clothing… I have to think about that one some more. I think iStyleIt should give you a better hint of what you could look like so that hopefully by eye alone you could see whether an outfit stinks or not, or having friends rate outfits for you would help… but that’s not always the case I suppose.
Some more ideas:
- This was discussed in my last blog, but being able to take a picture of a tag with the washing/drying instructions would be a great way of making sure you don’t accidentally shrink a sweater or damage a dry-clean only shirt.
- I like the comment from axphin. iStyleIt has to be smart, so it should be able to take the day’s weather predictions and recommend an outfit based on that. Not based on only the current weather but also if it will get cooler or hotter during the day. It could be an option that you turn on and off so that when you choose the “random outfit generator” you don’t wind up with summer clothing being picked out for you on a snow day. In that case, you might have to input the material of the item or you could build a slide thermometer for each out fit to make it easier to input since the sensation of temperature is definitely subjective as well.
- It could have color recognition so you don’t have to input the color mannually and give you warnings such as “you are wearing all pink today, are you sure you want to do this?” haha. As mentioned above, I am working on the fashion advice idea.
- Building on top of color recognition, I think you should be able to change the hue on the article of clothing to see if you would look good in a different color for the same top or bottom and plan on buying an outfit based on what you see in iStyleIt that compliments you. The item could be placed in your “Wishlist” which can include clothing you found on the internet, in a magazine or that someone else owns. You could even print out the wishlist when you go shopping, or post it in a profile, website or blog so that your friends and family can purchase exactly your size, brand and style preferences as giftsand you will never be stuck with a rainbow-colored, oversized sweater from your great aunt Marge.
