A friend of mine told me about this contest after I told him how desperately I wanted a Mac. I spent a lot of time thinking of an idea. I specifically wanted an idea that everyone could make use of. iClip and ShapeShifter, for instance, it’s good for everyone! AppZapper: again, everyone can use it! Since I don’t have a Mac (yes, I still use Windows, unfortunately), it was difficult to come up with an idea. My strategy was to do various things on my computer and look for major improvements. Yes, there were many. And most of them are already fixed on Mac OS X. Well, I did happen to come up with an idea called SweepIt that basically automatically organizes your files. (Explained further on my Idea page)
After this contest has been running for five days, I was thinking it was over. The chances of being one of the next 9 finalists were very slim. I would still check my e-mail for any sort of notification from My Dream App, but there was continuously nothing. And when there was nothing, I simply said to myself, “Oh well”, since there are roughly 3000 contestants. Like, it doesn’t matter how well thought your idea is, because there are so many people who have excellent ideas as well. Today, after getting all exhilarated about the Apple Special Event, I got a call from Phil! I was really excited, and didn’t believe it was true. I quickly told my friend who told me about the contest: he didn’t believe me for one second! Although, he did like my ideas. I suppose it’s just hard to believe.
Regardless of what place I make it to, I am still honoured to be a finalist on this wonderful contest.
Special thanks to the My Dream App team who spent a lot of time organizing this contest.
